Another record high number of daily COVID-19 cases has been confirmed as South Africa battles a third wave of infections.
The Health Department says 26 485 cases were confirmed in the 24 hours up until Saturday night.
Gauteng continues to account for more than half of these infections, which represents a 27.3% positivity rate.
According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, 175 coronavirus-related deaths were reported on Saturday, bringing the country's death toll to 61 507.
SA now has more than 192 400 active cases, and the recovery rate remained at 87.8%.
