A police team investigating the illegal sale of steroids and prescription drugs online, have made another major find as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police spokesperson, Captain Amanda van Wyk, said detectives from the national organised crime investigation unit, seized a “significant quantity” of scheduled medicine, steroids, and other performance-enhancing drugs at a self-storage facility in Derdepoort in Pretoria on Wednesday.
“The estimated street value of the confiscated substances is R15 million,” she said.
Van Wyk said “this success” followed the arrest of six people last month, they believe were part of a “drug syndicate” selling the products online.
“Charges against two of the suspects have been provisionally withdrawn,” Van Wyk said.
She said follow-up investigations into the syndicate's activities led the team to the identified storage facility.
Van Wyk said the investigation remains ongoing.
