A 40-year-old woman will appear in the Mankwe Magistrates Court in North West on Monday after allegedly attacking her child's teacher.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane says the mother was arrested on Friday after allegedly assaulting the teacher at the Leema Primary school near Sun City in Rustenburg.
He says according to their information the suspect accused the 52-year-old teacher of ill-treating her child and wanted to "teach her a lesson".
The teacher was in the company of two of her colleagues when they saw the mother at the gate of the school premises.
Tselanyane says according to the teacher she was busy explaining her innocence when the mother attacked her with the umbrella she was carrying.
The victim was repeatedly hit on her head and hands and sustained open wounds.
The mother fled the scene but was later brought to the school by community members and handed over to police.
