The Orkney Magistrates’ Court has postponed the case against murder accused ANC MP Sibusiso Kula to the 31st of January for judgement on his bail application.
34-year-old Kula is facing a murder charge following the death of his wife in a supposed house-robbery in November last year at which he was not present.
She was found dead in her home with a stab-wound to the back but the murder weapon was never found.
North West NPA Regional spokesperson Henry Mamothame says thorough investigations linked Kula to his wife's death and he was arrested on Friday 20 January.
He says that due to the accused facing a charge on a schedule 6 offence, the State will be opposing bail next Tuesday.
Meanwhile: The ANC Caucus says it notes the arrest and court appearance of Sibusiso Kula in connection with the murder of his wife Jennifer Motlhomi.
It says its deeply saddened by the matter as its been driving campaigns around the country against gender-based violence and femicide.
The ANC Caucus says the Office of the Chief Whip has submitted a report to the Head Office of the ANC on the matter.
It expects ANC processes to follow, guided by ANC step-aside guidelines since Kula is facing criminal charges.
