ANC in court over "spear painting"

A full Bench of the High Court in Johannesburg will hear an ANC application on Thursday, to have the now defaced painting depicting President Jacob Zuma with his genitals exposed, taken down.

The painting, titled "The Spear", was part of Cape Town artist Brett Murray's exhibition "Hail to the Thief II" at the Goodman Gallery, in Johannesburg.

The ANC also wants City Press to remove a photo of the painting from its website.

Meanwhile, the notion of naked men marching to protest against the controversial painting came up at the NUM congress on Wednesday.
Union president Senzeni Zokwana has suggested the protest march against the painting, adding that only men should take part, because they will be naked.
He did not give any date or time for the naked protest.
