The ANC Parliamentary Caucus says it has learnt with sadness of the passing of ANC MP, Zamuxolo Joseph Peter.
It says he tested positive for Covid-19, and was subsequently hospitalized on 11 July, but passed away on Friday.
Acting Caucus spokesperson, Nomfanelo Kota says 55-year old Peter was a longstanding ANC leader in the Eastern Cape and a former UDF activist.
He served in various Eastern Cape structures, including as a member of the Provincial Executive Committee.
Peter previously served as a Ward Councillor from 2000 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2015, as the Executive Mayor of Makana Municipality.
