Two women and a man accused of being part of a syndicate which sold illegal Eskom prepaid vouchers to dozens of people are expected to appear in court on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Lloyd Ramovha, says the trio aged 36, 38 and 46 respectively, were arrested on Thursday, following a year-long intensive investigation by the Hawks in Middelburg (Mpumalanga) and surrounding areas.
He says they were initially alerted of the unlawful dealings by a whistleblower.
This information led investigators to establish that the suspects had been dispensing prepaid electricity vouchers using unauthorized vending machines, at low prices.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Tweefontein and Siyabuswa Magistrate's Courts, respectively.
