An alleged Israeli gang leader who has been on Interpol's Red List since 2015 has been arrested at a house in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Officers pounced on the property with a search warrant on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the Hawks Colonel Athlenda Mathe says according to Israeli authorities, the suspect is part of a notorious gang dealing in drug trafficking, extortion and other criminal activities.

The 46-year-old suspect was arrested with seven other people on the same property.

The Hawks say they also confiscated a total of 19 firearms, including rifles, pistols, and AK47s.

Six motorcycles were also seized of which three were confirmed as stolen.

Colonel Mathe says they also found 3kg of drugs suspected to be either cocaine or crystal meth, eight cars, including a sniper delivery truck, a jamming device and four drones, fitted with cameras.

He says two bullet proof vests, two money counting machines, digital scales and $40 000 in cash were seized.

The main suspect is wanted in Israel for trying to kill a person in two separate bomb attacks in 2003 and 2004 in which eight people were injured.

The suspects are allegedly attached to a criminal organisation in Israel called the "Abergil Organisation".
