Police stationed at the OR Tambo International Airport arrested an alleged drug mule from Nigeria on Friday.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the man had just landed from Brazil and was connecting to Nigeria when he met with a cleaner at the airport and handed him airline headphones.
She says police became suspicious and approached the suspect to investigate the headphones when cocaine was found stashed inside.
According to the suspect, he is just a street vendor in Nigeria who went to Brazil to purchase goods to sell in his home country.
Brigadier Mathe says the cleaner noticed police were hot on his heels and evaded arrest.
Police have since launched a manhunt for him.
