An alleged drug mule who was on his way to fly to Hong Kong was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg this week.
Spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale says the 51-year-old Wynand Harmse was arrested by members of the HAWKS who followed up on information about a possible drug courier at the Airport.
Harmse was stopped and allowed officers to search his luggage, which did not contain any illegal substances.
Mogale says they then did a body search and black plastic, containing cocaine, was discovered concealed beneath a black waist corset around his waist.
The 1 kg of cocaine, with an estimated street value of R300 00, was confiscated.
Harmse remains in custody until his next court appearance on the 13th of May where he is expected to bring a formal bail application.
