Three suspects are expected to appear in the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrates' Court on Tuesday following their arrest for impersonating Covid19 officials.

Police in Ekulindeni in Mpumalanga received information about two vehicles, a VW Polo and Toyota Hilux, with COVID 19 insignia, allegedly participating in criminal activities.

When stopped by police, the suspects produced fake permits and pretended to be COVID19 officials on deployment.

It was further discovered that the men, who travelled across provincial borders from Limpopo to Mpumalanga, were attempting to cross the border to collect dagga from a neighbouring country.

The suspects, aged between 31 and 35 will face several charges.

Police also cannot rule out the possibility of charging them with fraud as they impersonated COVID-officials.
