A 30-year-old woman who is the wife of an alleged cryptocurrency fraudster, Sandile Shezi, is in police custody.
A spokesperson for the Hawks in Gauteng, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso says Slindile Mkhize appeared in the Alexander Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
He says Mkhize, who was arrested at Fourways, allegedly went on a community radio station where she encouraged members of the community to invest in an alleged fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme.
Captain Rikhotso says one person invested R100 000 and received dividends, but when he invested another R500 000 into the scheme, he saw a reduction in his dividends.
He says when the investor could not get hold of the couple he reported to matter to police.
The matter was transferred to the Hawks in Johannesburg for further probing.
Mkhize was granted bail of R5 000 and must be back in court on the 13th of November.
Her husband made headlines earlier this year when he handed himself over to police in Sandton, on another fraud matter.
Sandile Shezi, who is a self-proclaimed millionaire is currently out on bail of R20 000.
