AfriForum says the statement of the Executive Mayor of the Tshwane Metropolitan Council, Kgosientso Ramokgopa, that consensus had been reached about the changing of 27 street names in Pretoria after discussions with, amongst others, AfriForum, is a blatant lie.
CEO Kallie Kriel says the ANC's proposed list of 27 street names that will be changed, had never been mentioned at any of the discussions that AfriForum had with the Mayor.
He says their standpoint has always been, and will remain, that names of particular cultural historical significance should not be altered.
