Afriforum lays charges against ANC Youth League deputy president

Afrikaner lobby group AfriForum says it has laid a charge of hate speech against ANC Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola.

The charge relates to Lamola's recent comments about the expropriation of land and his call for section 25 of the Constitution to be amended to allow for a change in land reform policy.

He also reportedly said that if whites did not hand land back to blacks there could be land invasions like in Zimababwe.

Afiforum says Lamola's use of race as a metaphor for the definition of inequalities in the community was extremely dangerous.

It says he has now become an active instigator and champion of lawlessness and violent land-grab actions.
