Action SA politicians kidnapped in Centurion

The Gauteng Provincial Chairperson for Action SA, Funzi Ngobeni, and Chairperson of the Youth Forum, Hluphi Gafane were hijacked and kidnapped in Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday night.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili says they received a complaint at around 8 pm and immediately activated the necessary resources, including members from the SAPS Tracing Team and Organised Crime.

She says the politicians were driving in a Toyota Hilux when they were hijacked and forced back into their vehicle before driving off.

The hijackers drove about 60 km towards Benoni where the victims were dropped off.

Action SA took to social media late on Tuesday to confirm that both Ngobeni and Gafane were in good health despite what must have been a harrowing experience.

They have since been reunited with their families.

Brigadier Muridili says investigations are underway to trace the vehicle and the suspects.

It is back to work though for both Ngobeni and Gafane who will accompany Action SA leader Herman Mashaba on Wednesday to unveil the party's Gauteng election poster in Ivory Park.
