Nine people were killed, and 45 others were injured, when a minibus taxi collided with a bus near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga on Saturday morning.
ER24's Derrick Banks says the death toll might rise as the bus was still on its side.
Banks says the accident happened shortly after 7am on the R40 between White River and Nelspruit.
He says of those injured, 12 are in critical condition, while 10 others are in a serious condition.
No further details were available.
