A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was measured off the coast of South Africa at 19:10 on Saturday evening.
The US Geological Survey says the epicentre was about 1600km south-southeast of Port Elizabeth at a depth of 10km.
No casualties or damage have been reported and no tsunami warning has been issued.
The USGS reported that a magnitude 2.8 earthquake was also measured 66 km north-northeast of Cape Town just after 18:30 on Saturday.
Tremors were felt in various parts of the Mother City.
On Sunday morning, the USGS reported a second earthquake in the Western Cape.
It says a magnitude 2.7 quake was measured 16km northwest of Stellenbosch just after 09:00 on Sunday.
No reports of casualties or damage have been received.
