Three people have been killed and five others injured, when the driver of a heavy goods truck lost control on a bend of a district road in White River, near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga.
Netcare 911's Jeffrey Wicks says workers, who were being transported on the back of the flat bed truck were flung off, when it veered out of control late on Saturday evening.
He says the injured were treated at the scene and transported to hospital.
Meanwhile, two people were killed when a heavy goods truck and a car collided head-on, on the R25 near Bapsfontein, between Kempton Park and Pretoria on Saturday night.
Wicks says one of the vehicles veered into the oncoming traffic.
He says the driver and passenger of the car were killed and their bodies were trapped in the wreckage.
Wicks says the truck driver was not injured.
