171 rhino killed this year

The number of rhino poached so far this year has now climbed to 171.

The Department of Environmental Affairs says statistics show that poachers are targetting the Kruger National Park, where 103 rhinos were killed.

It says the provinces of Limpopo, Kwazulu Natal and North-West are also being targetted by poachers and so far 58 animals were slain.

Three rhino have been killed so far in the Eastern Cape this year.
