An 11-year-old girl was critically injured in a boating accident on the Hartbeespoort Dam and was airlifted to hospital.
The National Sea Rescue Institute that the duty crew responded to the Dam at 3 pm on Saturday following reports of a boat accident near the Ifafi Aquatic Club.
NSRI Hartbeespoort Dam station commander Arthur Crewe said they found that a 15-foot ski-boat may have struck a semi-submerged tree stump, ejecting four people, all family members.
He said the child sustained "a critical injury in the accident".
Crew said the father, mother, their son, and a family friend, were transferred onto a rescue craft and taken ashore.
They were not injured.
He said the little girl was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.
NSRI national spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said it was confirmed on Sunday that the child was in a stable condition.
