A 30-year-old man who was caught on camera looting a store in Durban appeared in the local Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Mbuso Moloi was charged with public violence, theft and trespassing.

Moloi was seen putting his loot in a Mercedez Benz which was fitted with a false number plate and is therefore also charged for contravening the National Road Traffic Regulations of 2000.

A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Natasha Kara says the alleged looting happened at a Woolworths store in the Glenwood area on the 12th of July.

Moloi will remain in custody until the 2nd of August for bail consideration.
