The Volkswagen brand locally and globally has never been in a stronger position than it is now.
That's the word from VWSA Group managing director, David Powells, who was speaking at the official launch on Monday night of the Kelston Motor Group's new R28m dealership opposite the VWSA factory in Uitenhage.
Powells said the timing of the investment by the Kelston group could not have been better.
"Its taken two brave men to put this facility up. From our point of view the timing couldn't be better. I say that for two reasons, one is local market related and the other is that our market share in South Africa has never been at a higher level."
"So, from that point of view this is the right timing for such an investment," said Powells.
"More importantly from a global perspective the Volkswagen brand and group has never been in a better position. Our market share globally is the highest its ever been. The group is still growing."
"Apart from the 10 brands we already have we have bought another two brands. One is Ducati motorcycles and the other is Porsche. The Volkswagen group is now 12 phenomenal brands strong, we have the highest market share in our history, we have the highest volumes in our history," Powells added.
The VWSA boss said he is proud to have a flagship dealership opposite the Volkswagen factory in Uitenhage.
"To have this dealership here is really a dream come true. To have such a role-model organisation in terms of their treatment of customers and to capture that all in this brand new modern facility is really a dream come true," Powells said.
