Mercedes Benz South Africa is to embark on a massive recruitment drive in anticipation of the production of the next generation C-Class vehicle in 2014.
The company says approximately 800 successful applicants will undergo training and skills development, with the aim of securing a position as a production employee at the East London manufacturing plant.
MBSA's vice president for human resources, Johann Evertse, says the investment provides an ideal opportunity to deepen the economic contribution of the company to the province and the country.
"A very important aspect of this is the collaborations with the National Treasury jobs fund, the Department of Labour and we are hoping to provide employment opportunities to more than 600 employees and any person that we don't accommodate in our plant we will make available to local suppliers servicing the plant " Evertse said.
