More than 200 delegates and more than 250 farm workers are expected to participate in the 2013 International Mohair Summit.
The international summit is set to take place at the end of October in Jansenville, which is in the heart of mohair country.
The summit programme also includes an investor conference which will provide an opportunity for goverment to engage local and international investors.
Speaking at the media launch on Tuesday, the chairperson of Mohair South Africa, Reinhold Du Randt, said that the mohair summit was a key driver of employment and will increase tourism in the Jansenville area.
"South Africa produces over fifty percent of the total mohair production in the whole world. Ikwezi district, situated in the heart of the mohair producing region, is a key driver of creating opportunities and employment. The infrastructure and usage of the town hall could be a catalyst to place Jansenville back on the map and increase tourism." said Du Randt
The Mayor of the Ikwezi Munciplaity, Sizwe Mngwevu, said that the main objective of the summit is to attract international investors.
"The objective is to make sure that international investors invest in our country. The district and the whole country will benefit from this summit. The objective is to also make sure it creates job opportunities and that it benefits the disadvantaged, marginilised and emerging farmers of our area." said Mngwevu
