Vodacom, has launched what it says is a revolutionary mobile technology - One Net Express.
It says the service, launched country-wide on Thursday, has the potential to save small and medium enterprises millions of rands.
Executive head of network services, Gary Hart, says the One-Net service converges mobile telephone with a land line using one number.
"It's a mobile switchboard on your phone, what that means is when the number is dialed customers can be received by an auto attendant. It directs the call to the right person at the right time. I think that's the biggest challenge that small businesses face, that when they are not available they lose opportunity, and when they lose opportunity they lose money." says Hart
He says the system, in use in 12 countries already, is all about creating more accessibility between businesses and their customers.
"So even if you are out of the office, or unavailable in a meeting that call can be directed to someone else in the office that might be available to take the call. The concept refers to hunt groups- so if you not available, the call will automatically hunt to different people in the organisation until the call is answered." says Hart.
