Aggregate new vehicle sales slightly down in April

Aggregate new vehicle sales for April were slightly down year-on-year.

Motor industry manufacturing association, Naamsa, says aggregate new vehicle sales in April came in at 44 503 units, down slightly down from the 46 016 units sold in April last year.

However, Naamsa says vehicle exports had continued to contribute positively to South Africa’s current account of the balance of payments.

New vehicle exports at 23 615 units in April registered exceptionally strong growth compared to the corresponding month last year -  rising by 6 813 units or
40.5% year-on-year.

Naamsa says vehicle exports for 2015 are on target to improve by around 25% in volume terms.
