NWGA on faulty wool clips

The National Wool Grower's Association says the largest percentage of faulty clips for sale at auction came from brokers, hawkers, traders, speculators and feedlots - while few producers consistently erred with the preparation of their clips.

The manager: Production Advisory services of the NWGA, Dr Louis du Pisani says a detailed analysis of clip faults reported by buyers over the past 4 seasons showed that clips from the aforementioned were seven times more likely to have faults than commercial or communal producers.

He says the analysis also showed that reports of clip faults increased from 232 in 2010/11 to 2-thousand 159 in 2012/13.

Du Pisani says it was concluded that the huge increase was most probably because buyers started to report clip faults more frequently.

He says the biggest problem reported concerned clips containing mixed lenghts, contamination with bailing twine and plastic, while contamination with paint and marking ink was another major problem.
