Residents in the Western Cape can expect a cold and windy weekend when a well-developed cold front makes landfall on Thursday morning.
A local spokesperson for the South African Weather Services Garth Sampson says a second cold front will follow shortly after the first.
He says residents must brace themselves for high sea conditions, galeforce winds and localised flooding.
Even light snow can be expected over the higher mountains of the Western Cape.
Eastern Cape
Sampson has already issued an Alert 5 warning for strong to gale force north-westerly winds of up to 75km/hour that will reach Plettenberg Bay by Thursday evening.
High sea conditions with wave heights of 6 - 8m will reach Port Alfred on Friday.
The high grounds of the Eastern Cape can also expect some snow over the weekend.
Sampson says on Saturday, there will be a significant drop in daytime temperatures as the front moves towards Kwazulu Natal.
