Stephen Hawking explains parallel universes using One Direction

British scientist Stephen Hawking's family announced today that he had died peacefully at his home in Cambridge in the early hours of the morning. Hawking was not only a world renowned Scientist, but also somewhat of a medical marvel, living to the age of 76 after having been diagnosed with a rare form of Motor Neurone Disease in 1963 and given an estimated 2 years to live. The condition saw him confined to a wheelchair and needing to make use of an electronic voice generator to speak. 

Despite his physical challenges, Professor Hawking has been described as a warm and affectionate with a huge sense of humour. His trademark humour and ability to make complex academic theory accessible to ordinary people was illustrated at a lecture he gave at the Sydney Opera House via a holographic projection. When asked by a teenage delegate what the cosmological effect would be of Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, Hawkings explained as follows:
