If you thought the only fashion choices the world’s most memorable dictators were influencing were men’s haircuts, you were wrong. Robert Mugabe, the Marxist president of Zimbabwe since 1987, has put his name on a line of clothing in an attempt to reach young, fashion-savvy voters.
The Daily Mail reports that the House of Gushungo clothing line will use the 87-year-old Mugabe’s signature as a logo, and will print it on t-shirts and other garments designed for men, women and children. The line will apparently include everything from formalwear to winter coats, hats and everything in between. And all of it is designed to be a tribute to Mugabe, who has been in control of the country since 1980.
“We decided to come up with something that is long lasting, something that will last forever and in honour of our President,” said Nicholas Munyonga, who runs the line.
