19 year-old Liam Stevens of Cape Town and his Dutch Warm Blood Wanda won the Nissan FEI World Cup qualifier in a jump off at PE Riding Club in Lorraine yesterday.
PE's defending Champion Jade Hooke was unable to go clear in the first round - 5 horses out of 19 did go clear and in the jump off Liam was the fastest on 4 penalties.
Jodie Peters of KZN was second, also on 4 penalties and Tamar Bernstein of Gauteng third on 5 penalties.
It was young Liam's first-ever World Cup qualifier and he says the jump off was particularly nerve wracking. He's now looking forward to the final leg of the series in his home town this weekend.
