Her closest rival, Cacisile Sosibo, only finished in seventh place.

According to a statement, Xaba, who is coached by Caster Semenya and the Olympian’s sister Violet, last won the series in 2018, before it was opened to foreign athletes.

Meanwhile, some 3000 participants in the 31st Spar Women’s Challenge, who took part in the 5km and 10km fun events, were treated to post-race activities that live performances by Booshle G and others.

It was also “particularly sweet” for entrants Xoliswa Manziya and Mouthfuls Ngele, who respectively won a year’s supply of groceries from SPAR Eastern Cape, while the latter’s name became the latest to go into the national draw for a Proton X50 vehicle.

SPAR EC advertising manager Roseann Shadrach said the Group was so incredibly grateful to the community for coming out to support the event and its beneficiaries, Radhiant and LifeLine South Africa.
