Warriors field strong team for opening T20 clash

Dafabet Warriors

Dafabet Warriors coach Robbie Peterson says he is excited to be able to field their strongest team for the first three matches of the CSAT20 competition.

The excitement returns to Dafabet St George’s Cricket Stadium on Friday when the Eastern Cape franchise takes on AET Tuskers in their opening match.

With key players from the two-time SA20 champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape in action, Peterson said he was hoping that the crowd would flock to support them.

“Guys like Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Matthew Breetzke, Tristan Stubbs, Jordan Hermann, and Patrick Kruger are all looking forward to emulating the excitement of the SA20s on their home ground.

“Everybody is looking in tip-top shape for the competition,” he said.

Kariega-born speedster, Nortje, predicted “a great game” saying they were looking forward to entertaining the crowd.

“The whole team is really excited to be playing on our home ground.

“It has been a great build-up so far, and we can’t wait to start this year’s CSAT20 challenge.

“Please come out and support us. The guys really appreciate it,” Nortje added.

The Warriors’ first T20 game under lights in nearly three years will start at 6 PM to give fans time to get to the grounds after work.

 The squad for Friday:

Matthew Breetzke (C), Jiveshan Pillay, Jordan Hermann, Tristan Stubbs, Sinethemba Qeshile (WK), Patrick Kruger, Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Nealan van Heerden, Siya Simetu, Alfred Mothoa, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Liam Alder, Andile Mogakane, Renaldo Meyer.
