Sharks center Tim Whitehead will miss Saturday's Super 15 rugby final against the Waikato Chiefs because of a broken hand.
Whitehead suffered the injury during the weekend's 26-19 win over the Stormers and has not recovered sufficiently to play in Saturday's match in Hamilton.
No replacement has been named and the Sharks will use a reduced 23-man squad to prepare for the match.
Meanwhile: Chiefs captain Craig Clarke has been given until Thursday to prove his fitness for the match after suffering a knee injury in his team's semifinal win over the Crusaders.
