A fine knock of 47 off 38 balls by Shane Watson and some excellent bowling from Mitchell Starc helped the Sydney Sixers beat the Lions at Newlands yesterday to seal their spot in the semifinals of the Champions League T20.
The Lions could only managed 137 for 9 in their innings as Starc took 3 for 19 in his four overs.
In reply, the Sixers finished on 141 for 5 in 19 overs to retain their unbeaten run in the tournament and become the first team to seal a semifinal berth.
Then in the late game at Newlands - rain ruined the Mumbai Indians' party after they raced to 156-6 in 17.5 overs against Yorkshire.
Play was abandoned before Mumbai could complete their innings and the defending champions now have to rely on other results to go their way in order to stay in the competition.
