SWD bowler in Warriors T-20 squad

Chevrolet Warriors coach, Piet Botha, has included the SWD’s opening bowler Gurshwin Rabie in his squad of fifteen for the CSA Twenty20 domestic series. The competition kicks-off on Wednesday February 15th when the Warriors takes on the Nashua Cape Cobras at the Axess St George’s Cricket Stadium in Port Elizabeth.  The final of this competition, which CSA extended to a double round, will be played on March, 30th.

Rabie’s inclusion is a reward for constant success during the past season for the SWD in all formats of the game and besides the cold statistics Botha was also impressed with him at a recent Emerging Warriors training camp in Port Elizabeth.  Rabie is currently the second most successful wicket taker in the Provincial three day competition whilst his bowling statistics in the shorter formats of the game are always very economical.

Rabie, who originates from Oudtshoorn, had an earlier taste of professional franchise cricket when he represented the Cape Cobra’s whilst a student at the University of the Western Cape.

The Warriors squad is Jon Jon Smuts, Arno Jacobs, Nicky Boje, Justin Kreusch, David White, Craig Thyssen, Kelly Smuts, Simon Harmer, Andrew Birch, Lyall Meyer, Makhaya Ntini, Basheer Walters, Athi Dyili, Davey Jacobs and Gurswhin Rabie.  The following Protea’s are also part of the squad pending their availability:  Ashwell Prince, Rusty Theron, Wayne Parnell and Johan Botha.
