St George’s Park gearing up for jam-packed season

AFM News

Cricket Eastern Cape says the newly renamed DAFABET St George’s Park Cricket Stadium will host 17 matches over the next six months, including two internationals.

CEO, Dr Mark Williams, said cricket fans would be spoilt for choice this season, adding that it has been “some time since we’ve had a jam-packed season.”

He said Cricket Eastern Cape was also hoping to fill the stadium for these fixtures.

The first home match of the season for the DAFABET Warriors will be the clash with Hollywood Bets Dolphins on Saturday, September 30.

“The scheduled match against Western Province on Monday, September 25, was abandoned without a ball bowled due to the storms that lashed the region,” William said.

Two One Day Cup matches are scheduled for DAFABET St George’s, on October 15 against AET Tuskers and on October 22 against North West Dragons.

International games to be hosted at DAFABET St George’s will be a T20 International between the Proteas and India on December 12, followed by a One Day International on Tuesday, 19 December.

The SA20 kicks off in January, with the Sunrisers Eastern Cape playing their first fixture against Durban Super Giants on January 10.

This will be followed by a clash against the Pretoria Capitals on Monday, 22 January, Cape Town Mumbai Indians on Saturday 27 January, and Paarl Royals on Sunday, 4 February.

DAFABET St George’s will also host seven Domestic T20 games, including a doubleheader in March and April.
