The SA government has paid tribute to Zandisile John ‘Increase’ Ncinane, the former president of the Border Rugby Football Union and an ANC member of parliament, who passed on earlier this week.
For most of his senior life, he was a respected sports activist and a seasoned administrator who participated in a number of sporting codes.
Notably, together with other greats of sport, such as the late Mvuzo Mbebe, he was one of the delegates of the South African Amateur Athletics Congress to the Unity Talks.
Thulas Nxesi MP, Minister of Sport and Recreation, said on Tuesday it was with a heavy heart that he learned of the passing of Ncinane.
“Ncinane was a famous sports activist and a seasoned administrator who participated in a number of sporting codes. Notably, together with other greats of sport, such as the late Mvuzo Mbebe, he was one of the delegates of the South African Amateur Athletics Congress to the Unity Talks.
“Comrade Ncinane distinguished himself as one of the most committed and talented administrators serving in a number of sport structures in his birthplace in the border region.
“He served as the president of Border Athletics, as well as president of Border Rugby. It was because of his dedication and passion that he was elected as the president of the Eastern Cape National Sports Council and later as the co-president for Athletics South Africa with Judge van Zyl. May his soul rest in peace.”
