SA Rugby Union CEO Jurie Roux says the nation-wide revival of club rugby remains one of Saru's top priorities and plans to safeguard its survival are at an advanced stage.
Roux was speaking at the launching of a national club rugby SMS results line.
He said there are over 800 clubs that play every weekend across South Africa but supporters often aren't even aware of matches taking place in their community.
Roux is hoping clubs take advantage of the initiative so that club rugby can steadily reclaim its rightful place in the public consciousness.
Saru appealed to clubs to SMS their first team scores to 44678 (charged at standard rates) after every match, thereby leading to
increased exposure.
