Ashleigh Buhai's twitter handle @ash_simon states that she is an Olympian and South African Professional golfer playing on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour.
What it doesn't state, and will no-doubt be updated to include once the celebrations die down, is that she is also a Major Champion - the British Open Champion no-less.
Many avid golf followers will remember Ashleigh under her maiden name of Simon and as a phenomenal young talent who swept all before her during her amateur career.
She has now reached the pinnacle of the sport as a professional with a truly gutsy win on the 4th playoff hole to capture the AIG Women's Open at Muirfield.
Buhai had special words for her caddie in describing the bunker shot that secured her place in history; “My caddie Tanya said to me just before I played ‘Now show them why you are number one for bunkers this year on the tour’”
THAT greenside bunker shot to a foot secured the winning par over South Korea's Chun In-gee as the light faded over storied Muirfield, scene too of Open Championship victories for fellow South Africans Ernie Els in 2002 and Gary Player in 1959.
With husband David looking on nervously, the 33-year-old Buhai finally did the business in the play-off to join Sally Little - who won two in the 1980s - as a South African to win a women's major.
Gary Player did not take long to tweet his congratulations to Ashleigh; "Massive congratulations to @ash_simon on winning the @AIGWomensOpen at Muirfield. What a fantastic final round and playoff for Ashleigh - her victory will go down in history as a legendary moment for ladies golf in South Africa. We are so proud!"
