Brad Binder became the first South African to win a premier class race in his rookie year when he blitzed the field to win the Czech MotoGP on Sunday.
The rookie started the race in 7th position on his No. 33 KTM machine to win by four seconds ahead of Italian Franco Morbidelli and Frenchman, Johann Zarco in third.
The South African, who turns 25 next week, also won the Moto3 championship in 2016.
Speaking after the race, a beaming Brad said that it was a dream come true to give KTM its first MotoGP win.
“This is a day I dreamt about as a little boy and today it came true. It’s amazing to win my first Grand Prix.”
Binder said he wished his parents were in the Czech Republic to share his win because they backed him from the beginning.
“I can’t thank my team enough. They put an absolutely insane motorbike underneath me this weekend,” Binder said.
