With only 72 days left before the Paris Olympics, the first announcement by team South Africa took place in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
The Games take place from 26 July to 11 August, where Olympic medalist Wayde van Niekerk, marathon runner Gerda Steyn are among the athletes to represent South Africa.
Other athletes include the Africa Champion in hurdles Rogail Josephs, sprinter Akani Simbine and runner Stephen Mkoka.
Olympic record holder Tatjana Smith is set to defend her title alongside swimmers Chad le Clos, Erin Gallagher, and Pieter Coetzer in the pool.
Matthew Sates, Aimee Canny, Kaylene Corbett, Rebeca Meder, and Julia Vincent also join the team.
Gymnast Caitlin Rosenkratz is the only athlete who will represent the country in her category.
Canoers Tiffany Koch, Esti Olivier, Hamish Lovemore, and Andrew Birkett are set to fly the flag high in their category.
Steyn de Lange has been named in the Wrestling team while Jordy Smith, Matthew McGillivray, and Sarah Baum will brave the waves in the surfing category.
Aniya Holder, Joshua Bruyns, Lauren Mukheiber and Mel janse van Resnburg were named in the SA climbing team.
