Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams returned to his primary school on Youth Day to educate encourage, and empower youths with soccer skills.
The coaching clinic done in partnership with the Williams 30 foundation, which was conducted by the Gqeberha local took place at Gelvandale Primary School,and attracted more than 200 kids from four different schools in the northern areas.
"Coming back to Gqebhera and giving back to the community that shaped my early career is incredibly rewarding," said Williams.
"I am dedicated to helping the next generation of athletes reach their full potential and achieve their dreams," he added.
Meanwhile, parents, educators and community members expressed their gratitude for Williams' commitment to youth development.
"Having a role model like Ronwen Williams work directly with our children is an incredible opportunity," said Ronald Boggenpoel, the Principal at Gelvendale Primary School.
"His dedication and success are truly inspiring."
Speaking on behalf of Adidas, Bob Maphosa said they are proud of Williams in his mission to develop young footballers in his hometown.
"At Adidas, we believe in the power of sport to change lives, and initiatives like these are at the heart of our community engagement efforts," he adds.
Maphosa also said the event marks another significant effort by Williams to invest in the future of South African football. His hands-on approach and personal engagement have left a lasting impact on the participants, many of whom dream of following in his footsteps.
