An inspired performance with the ball and in the field saw the Proteas beat New Zealand by 65 runs in their T20 Women's World Group match in Paarl on Monday night.
The SA women overcame a shaky start to post 132 for 6 in their 20 overs as Chloe Tryon belted 40 off 34 and Nadine de Klerk 28 not out off 26 balls.
In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for just 67 runs - their lowest ever T20 World Cup score.
The win puts the Proteas Women's campaign back on track after their narrow loss to Sri Lanka in their opening fixture in Cape Town.
St George's Park hosts its first match of the tournament at 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening when defending champions Australia take on Bangladesh.
South Africa next play Australia at the same venue on Saturday.
