The inaugural one-million euro Nelson Mandela Championship will be played at Royal Durban in early December and NOT at the Humewood links in Port Elizabeth.
Metro offcials say a clash of dates with the Nelson Mandela sevens and an over-subscribed recreation and sporting budget were the main contributing factors for the tournament not coming to PE.
Sunshine Tour marketing and communications director Duncan Cruickshank says they'll continue to work to bring big-time golf back to Humewood which so successfully hosted the SA Open the year Ernie Els won in 2006.
Cruickshank added that the Africa Open will continue to be played at East London Golf Club, but moves from January to the second week in February next year.
