Nomvethe scoops top PSL awards


Moroka Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvethe scooped the country's top awards at the Premier Soccer League season-end function at Gold Reef City on Sunday night.

The rejuvenated 34-year-old was crowned PSL Footballer of the Year, while also earning the league's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year accolades.

The Birds' frontman also won the Premiership's top scorer award with 20 goals in the league, where his side finished second behind Orlando Pirates in the tightly-contested title race.

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi was named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, where his side lost 2-nil to SuperSport United in the final on Saturday.
