The Warriors Cricket Franchise has announced the appointment of Mfuneko Ngam as the new assistant coach to Rivash Gobind.
Ngam played cricket at the highest level for 10 years including playing for the Proteas between 2000 - 2003, the SA A team (1999) and the Warriors (1999 – 2004).
As a fast bowler he was feared by many batsmen and highly respected by his cricketing peers. He was awarded, along with Makhaya Ntini, the first African player to be voted National Cricketer of the Year in 2002, he was also the Ambassador for the Africa T20 in 2015.
Upon retirement Ngam went on to complete his level 4 qualification in cricket, where he became the head coach for JV/CSA HP Programme and convener of selectors for the Border Senior Cricket Team.
In 2005 he started a cricket academy in Motherwell which today has transformed into a Regional Performance Centre. He has over 8 years in running high performance cricket programs and has also plied his trade as a TV commentator for SuperSport and a cricket radio analyst.
