Manny 'pacman' Pacquiao calls time on boxing

@MannyPacquiao: Twitter

Philippine boxing legend and 2022 presidential hopeful Manny Pacquiao announced on Wednesday that he is hanging up his gloves after a glittering decades-long career in the ring.

The eight-division world champion and senator, who has his sights set on a high-stakes rumble to replace Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, said quitting boxing was the "hardest decision" of his life.

42-year-old Pacquiao finished his 26-year, 72-fight career with 62 wins, eight losses and two draws.

Of those 62 wins, 39 were by knockout and he won 12 world titles.

“To the greatest fans and the greatest sport in the world, thank you! Thank you for all the wonderful memories. This is the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but I’m at peace with it. Chase your dreams, work hard, and watch what happens. Good bye boxing,” tweeted the pacman, as he is fondly known, in a posting which quickly went viral.
