Malesela pleased with Chippa camp

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela had hailed his side’s week-long camp in Cape Town as a resounding success.

The Chilli Boyz played a number of friendly matches as they tune-up for the second half of the season and attempt to move away from the relegation zone.

Chippa are currently just three points abover Highlands Park in the relegation play-off position.

The club are also now close to a full bill of health with the return of forward Rhulani Manzini a particular boost for Malesela.

“The return of the players that were injured boosted the team and competition in the team,” he told his club’s website.

“The objective of the camp was to play as many games as possible and we were pleased with the response from the players on the games we played. We were able to look at different combinations. Out of the five games we played we scored in four games.

“We are always looking at building camaraderie in the in the team. The mental aspect also very important and the camp give us an opportunity to focus on those areas.

“It was also pleasing to see the endurance of the players.”

Chippa restart their Absa Premiership campaign at home to Baroka FC on February 7 and Malesela says there is still plenty of work to do.

“We will be doing lot of work in defence in the next couple of days. We will also focus on attacking and scoring. There is a lot to be done before the next game but the camp helped our preparations for the second round of the season.”

Chippa also recently announced the capture of Justice Chabalala, Donald Mokondelela, Sello Japhta and Nkosinathi Mthiyane from Orlando Pirates with James Okwuosa, Marc van Heerden and Thembinkosi Lorch moving in the opposite direction.
