Port Elizabeth professional Lyle Rowe touched down in Johannesburg on Tuesday, fresh from securing his playing rights on the lucrative Asian Tour for this season.
The Sunshine Tour pro, who plays out of Humewood Golf Club, opted to compete in the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage in Rayong, Thailand, last week - rather than contest the SA Open at Glendower.
It proved an inspired decision as Rowe carded a 5-round total of 2-under par 353 to finish in a tie for 34th place and secure his card on the number.
He slipped with a 77 in the 4th round, but rebounded with a final round of 69 to get the job done.
Rowe was the only South African in the 243 man field - representing 30 countries from around the world.
He is now in the enviable position of being able to ply his trade on both the Sunshine Tour at home and the Asian Tour, which features hi-profile European Tour co-sanctioned events in Malaysia, India, Australia and the Philippines.
